My son is starting Kindergarten in the Fall and I find the whole experience really exciting and also a bit scary. I probably have the same jitters most parents have when they send their wee one's off to a large building alone for the first time. Not to mention, when I walked my graduation processional for college, I ran and haven't looked back since.
A lot has changed in the many many years (sorry not giving away my age just yet ;) since in was in grade school.
One thing in particular is school lunches. To be honest, this is actually a really new concept for me. My school growing up was a really small catholic school and it did not have a cafeteria. It wasn't until high school that I even got to meet the infamous "lunch ladies"
So, how will I keep up this "back to basics" idea with my son, if his lunch choices are not up to par? Well, I will as always, have to try to find the Good Karma balance.
While looking into this whole cafeteria thing.. I came across one person who is trying to do something about answering my worries. Jamie Oliver, British Chef and TV celebrity. He is trying to help revolutionize the standards of what is served to our youth.. Pretty cool. Check it out. and maybe you'll join the FOOD REVOLUTION TOO.
In the meantime, I think I am going to at least have fun and look for some cool lunchboxes for my son. Did you know that they don't make the ol' tin boxes any more? I actually did, but I am still bummed.. God I loved my strawberry shortcake lunchbox.
